LEEF Spotlight: Richard Fowler

Richard joined the LEEF Board of Directors in 2016, during a pivotal time when the foundation was launching its inaugural events and programming initiatives. From the beginning, Richard has been deeply committed to our cause, dedicating countless hours to support LEEF’s Galas, MUDstacles, Star Banquets, and State of the District presentations with the goal of raising funds to allow Leander ISD students to excel in classrooms and beyond.

Richard’s involvement with LEEF goes beyond event support. He and his family have also made a significant impact through their monthly contributions to LEEF’s giving program. Their generosity directly supports various programs and initiatives that positively impact students and teachers district-wide. Richard’s dedication and belief in the power of education are truly inspiring.

During his seven years as a valued member of the LEEF board, Richard has made a profound impact on facilitating learning for students of all abilities, ages, and backgrounds. We are particularly proud of the attention he has brought to the educational needs of Leander ISD’s Individualized Education students and teachers. Richard’s personal experiences, including the successes and challenges of his son Sam, have provided invaluable insights that have helped shape our approach to supporting these exceptional learners.

“I joined the LEEF Board the same year as Richard in 2016 and it has been an honor to work side-by-side to support Leander ISD students and staff. The insight and understanding that I have learned about the needs of our Individualized Education students has been eye-opening and I am grateful to Richard for sharing about his son, Sam’s experiences and successes at Leander ISD.” Coleen Brighton, LEEF Executive Director.

In the words of Ignacio Estrada, “If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.” Richard Fowler embodies this sentiment by advocating for individualized approaches that ensure all students have the opportunity to thrive academically and personally.

During my 7 years as a member of the LEEF board my greatest contribution was helping to facilitate learning in students of all abilities, ages and backgrounds. I’m especially proud of focusing more attention on the educational needs of Leander ISD’s Individualized Education students and teachers. – Richard Fowler, LEEF Board Member
