On Monday, Oct. 2nd, 2023 at Leander ISD Festival of Bands the LEANDER EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE FOUNDATION (LEEF) Awarded $14,150 to the district’s Fine Arts Program
On Monday night at Leander ISD’s (LISD) annual Festival of Bands at Gupton Stadium, the Leander Educational Excellence Foundation LEEF awarded the Fine Arts department $14,150 to fund programs at all grade levels. LEEF has been investing in the district’s fine arts since 2014, but this year LEEF received an anonymous $10,000 donation that gives us the opportunity to make a huge, districtwide impact across all grade levels for all Leander ISD fine arts students.
LISD Fine Arts students are renowned for giving performances that are significant both for their technical proficiency and artistic excellence. These highly rated programs annually place high numbers of talented students in regional, area, state, and national competitions. The parents, families, boosters, and PTAs work hard all year to raise funds, but LEEF is able to help fill funding gaps across the entire district, especially for those campuses that may not be able to raise the same amount of funds as others.
LEEF is proud to provide funding that supports district fine arts programs including, art, band and dance that will educate our students’ minds, stimulate their creativity, and provide them with excitement and self-discipline that will last a lifetime.
Following is a summary of how the funds will be used:
$1,174.50 to support 29 Elementary campuses for the purchase of clay in each art classroom. Based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, all students have the opportunity to explore their creative expression utilizing different mediums and ceramics is a favorite LISD class among students and teachers.
$6,670.00 to support all 9 middle schools to purchase thirty-six (36) ProPanels for the schools visual arts classes and Leander ISD’s largest visual arts event: District Art Show.
$6,260 to support all 6 award-winning high school marching bands for the purchase of Ultimate Drill Book (UDB). This is a software application that allows students digital access to see their specific drill, which enhances the student experience, makes rehearsals more efficient and effective, and decreases directors’ administrative tasks.
