LEEF Supports Supplemental Reading Program for Students to Develop Critical Reading Skills since 2017

The Leander Educational Excellence Foundation is dedicated to enriching the educational experience and supports literacy initiatives by ensuring Leander ISD students have the resources they need to succeed in school.

In 2017, the foundation was asked to help fund the district’s Supplemental Reading Program (SRP). The program focuses on students most in need of intensive reading intervention based on district qualifying criteria. LEEF has provided $60,000 to date putting more than 14,000 books on over 20 campuses. Every year the foundation provides $10,000 for four elementary campuses, identified by the district.

Amie Chase, Leander ISD Early Intervention Program team member, expresses the importance of this support, “Providing access to high-quality leveled books is a critical component of our district’s balanced literacy approach. The books that have been purchased with the funds provided by LEEF ensure that our students have the opportunity to read a variety of highly engaging texts that support their reading journey. We are so thankful for our partnership and the continued support that LEEF provides.”

The LEEF team fosters a love of reading and supports teachers by funding this vital program thanks to the generosity of our community and business partners. If you’d like to join our efforts to make a difference for all Leander ISD students and teachers, please consider joining the LEEF Classroom Impact Team.
