Executive Director

The Executive Director serves as the spokesperson and point of contact for all Foundation programs, with a major emphasis on fundraising activities. They will collaborate with district and foundation leadership to meet the annual budgetary and program goals as well as promote the Foundation’s mission and impact within the community and school district.

Drive External Relations Community Fundraising

  • Represent the Foundation at events in ways that strengthen the brand, communicate the Foundation’s impact, and encourage donations.
  • Maintain effective relationships with schools, administration, parents, and the community at large to build a strong awareness of LEEF’s history, mission, and ongoing commitment to enriching the educational experience for all LISD students.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent of Leander ISD or designee to identify school district funding priorities and needs.
  • Identify and develop new partnerships with business and community leaders.
  • Assist event committees in managing all aspects of LEEF events.
  • Seek and obtain major gift opportunities and develop a legacy giving program.
  • Drive strategy in establishing annual campaign goals, participation levels, messaging, donor communication, and supporting events.
  • Responsible for knowledge of grant availability and grant writing for the Foundation.
  • Ensure stewardship of donor relations and integrity of record keeping.
  • Provide that all funds are disbursed and spent in a transparent manner. 
  • Review communication strategies and lead content creation for the website, social media, annual report, newsletter, donor, and promotional materials.

Management and Administration

  • Identify, recruit, train, and develop a talented team of employees who can lead critical departments and manage strategic business functions.
  • Monitor company operations and ensure employees and business practices comply with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Provide leadership for the development of strategic, organizational, and financial plans with the Board of Directors and encourage high-level engagement and participation of board members.
  • Possess and accumulate industry knowledge to incorporate best practices.
  • Oversee maintenance and accuracy of financial, donor, and grant databases.
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility and financial oversight for the annual budget.
  • Communicate regularly with LISD leadership about LEEF’s strategic plans.

Board Relations and Board Communications

  • Work with the Executive Committee and Board members to develop, monitor, and communicate the organization’s annual and long-term plans for reaching the foundation’s goals.
  • Attend Board meetings and prepare reports as directed by the Board President.
  • Help define the priorities and develop teamwork among board members, volunteer leaders, and school district staff.
  • Work with the Board President to ensure effective and efficient Board committee structure and operations including development opportunities.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of new Board members and officers.
  • Assist the President in planning the agenda and materials for the Board meetings.
  • Review and sign vendor contracts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably a Graduate degree in Education, Business Administration, or Nonprofit Development
  • Fundraising experience; preferably Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE)
  • An understanding of the state’s public education system and Leander ISD
  • Excellent understanding of finance-related performance standards
  • Experience in seeking and closing major gifts and legacy gifts
  • Large event planning experience; events with 500-5,000 participants and volunteers
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • High energy level, persistence, and self-motivation
  • Outstanding written and presentation skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented
