Wired Orthodontics Gives $10K for AP Exams

Wired OrthodonticsLeander ISD would like to thank and recognize Doctors Chris Stansbury, D.D.S., M.S., and Farrah Agahi , D.M.D., M.S.D., and their staff at Wired Orthodontics, for their very generous donation of $10,000 to provide students at each of high schools with need-based scholarships for Advanced Placement exams.

Due to drastic state and federal budget cuts, LISD was forced to eliminate financial assistance for students taking the AP exams. Without this financial support, some LISD families with students taking AP courses could no longer afford for their child to take AP exams. This financial burden was exacerbated for families with students who were taking multiple AP courses and set to take multiple exams.

“With each AP test costing $92, having a child who’s taking a couple of tests, or multiple children who are taking exams, this great opportunity  to earn college credit in high school can quickly become cost prohibitive for our families. Thanks to this donation, our high school counselors will be able to work with these families to partially or fully cover the cost of some 330 AP exams,” said Superintendent Bret Champion.

“We’re incredibly thankful to have partners in our community, like Wired Orthodontics, who work with us to ensure that our students who put in the work to take an AP course, and who want to earn college credit now, have the chance to do so without economics determining their success,” said Champion.
